Royal Weddings Subject of York Sunbury Historical Society Lecture: Beaverbrook Art Gallery, Thursday, May 17, 7:30 pm

Ladies, wear your fascinators! On the eve of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding, the York Sunbury Historical Society invites the public to a free "royal wedding" presentation highlighting some of the more famous (and infamous) weddings in British royal history.

This free public talk by British Royal historian Barry MacKenzie takes place on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 7:30 pm and will be held at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, 703 Queen Street, Fredericton. It follows the Society's Annual General Meeting at 7 pm. An exhibit of vintage wedding dresses from the Fredericton Region Museum will be on display and prizes will be awarded for the most creative fascinators! All are welcome and refreshments will be provided.

Barry MacKenzie is a well known historian specializing in British Royal history. Originally from the Miramichi, MacKenzie spent many years in Fredericton while pursuing his graduate studies at UNB. He teaches Canadian history at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia where his current research focuses on the many layers of meaning of royal visits to New Brunswick in the 20th century.
