The incredible true story of Canadian sports icon, Manny McIntyre, will be the focus of the next presentation in the York Sunbury Historical Society's virtual speaker series featuring historian John Lutz.

This LIVE event is FREE and will be held via ZOOM at 7 pm on Thursday, February 17, 2022. The presentation will be recorded and made available online after the event.

Manny McIntyre is a Canadian sports icon who competed in an era when racism and discrimination were all too common. Born in 1918, he was considered good enough to make the NHL and Major Leagues and became the first Black player to sign a professional contract in the modern era of Canadian baseball. In hockey, Manny was a member of the first all-Black line in pro hockey, known as the “Black Aces”.
