The Plain Site Theatre Festival, curated by Alex Rioux and run by Theatre St. Thomas in partnership with Solo Chicken Productions, is proud to return once again to the St. Thomas University campus to present new LGBTQIA2+ centered plays with the aim of fostering queer visibility in our arts scene and on our campus.
While the future of live performance is still unclear in our province, one thing is certain: the arts will always persist.
Given the current state of the world, and inspired by the innovative virtual response from theatre and performance artists across the country, we feel it is more important than ever to run this festival and create spaces in our community for queer voices to connect and flourish.
Festival Director Alex Rioux is seeking submissions for the 2020 festival and is working hard to create a flexible festival plan that will work with whatever state of social distancing is required.
Regardless of the situation, the festival is committed to maintaining our promise to support emerging queer voices on our campus.
The deadline to submit is August 1st.
